One Gate Every gate can be used outside or indoor. How to measure for the door 1: Measure the opening you wish to install the door. The door needs a minimum of a half inch on each side to clear properly, so subtract an inch for your measurement to find the width you need. Note that if mounding is present at the base of the floor the distance between the molding is what needs to be measured not the distance between the walls. 2: Determine what height you would like, being sure to take into account how much clearance you would like between the door and the floor.
